A student from Mioro Secondary School in Mathioya, Murang’a County, has captured the hearts of Kenyans after transforming a modest Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) score of 273 marks into an outstanding A- in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
Paul Kihumba, who initially sat for the KCSE in 2022 and scored a B-, felt dissatisfied with his performance and chose to repeat Form Four. This bold decision paid off, as he achieved an impressive 78 points, securing an A-.
“I have worked extremely hard to achieve this grade, and I am proud of what I’ve accomplished. My dream is to pursue a course in Information Technology at the University of Nairobi,” Kihumba shared.
He credited his success to sheer determination and discipline, which saw him wake up early to begin his studies by 6 a.m. and stay late in school for evening prep sessions. On several occasions, he would even spend the night at school to maximize his study time.
Despite his remarkable achievement, Kihumba now faces a significant hurdle—financial constraints that threaten to derail his dream of higher education. He is appealing to well-wishers to support him as he strives to join the University of Nairobi and realize his goal of studying Information Technology.
