St. George’s Girls Students Protest Teachers Over Alleged Beatings!


Drama erupted at St. George’s Girls’ High School in Nairobi on Sunday night as students staged protests over alleged corporal punishment by some teachers.
Eyewitnesses say some students marched under the moonlight in pyjamas, chanting slogans like:
“Wanatuchapanga!” (They are beating us!)
“Why are they beating us for no reason?”
The unrest reportedly started after a student was allegedly caned for stepping outside to view the blood moon.
Police had to step in, physically dispersing some students, while parents rushed to calm the chaos. By Monday morning, the Deputy County Commissioner declared the school closed indefinitely, a decision welcomed by both students and parents.
