Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing them of inciting youth and promoting tribal divisions.
Kingi, speaking during a women’s fundraiser in Makindu, Makueni County, said Uhuru had 10 years in office to empower the youth but failed. He urged him to allow President William Ruto’s administration to implement its development agenda.
He also took aim at Gachagua, accusing him of opposing national unity efforts and promoting tribalism. Kingi praised Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse for initiating the impeachment of Gachagua, calling him courageous.
Other leaders, including Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka and Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, praised Mutuse for standing up against tribalism. They also defended Ruto’s record, highlighting infrastructure, economic stability, and lower food prices.
Taveta MP John Bwire, previously allied with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, declared support for Ruto. The fundraiser raised KSh 7.5 million, with Ruto contributing KSh 3 million through Kingi.
Kingi said more fundraisers would be held nationwide to strengthen grassroots support ahead of the 2027 polls.
