Seven women, believed to be university students, find themselves in police custody following their involvement in the production of explicit content within an apartment located in Kakamega. The police operation unfolded in response to actionable intelligence provided by concerned residents.
Among the apprehended suspects is an individual of Ugandan nationality, all of whom were reportedly leading extravagant lifestyles funded by the proceeds from their explicit content endeavors.
The discovery of their activities has left a profound impact on the community, with one concerned resident expressing their dismay, stating, “What these young women have done is cast a negative image for the younger generation. Parents who believed their children were diligently pursuing their studies are now confronted with the distressing reality of their involvement in such activities for the sake of quick financial gains.”
Joseph Kigen, the Kakamega County Police Commander, has officially confirmed the incident. He stated that the suspects were taken into custody along with an assortment of tools and electronic equipment, including cameras and other devices specifically associated with explicit content production. Kigen emphasized, “The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is actively investigating this matter. Therefore, we are unable to disclose additional information about the case until we receive further updates from the Cyber Crime office, which has undertaken forensic testing on these devices to verify their involvement in such activities.”
Moreover, Kigen revealed that detectives are diligently pursuing leads to identify any potential accomplices associated with this group, further intensifying their efforts to uncover the full extent of this situation.
