Kenya’s music scene is mourning the death of Shalkido, a member of the popular Sailors Gang, who died after a tragic road accident on Thika Road on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Reports indicate the artist, whose real name was Kevin Mburu Kinyanjui, was involved in a hit-and-run accident between Githurai and Carwash in the early morning hours. He sustained severe head injuries, internal bleeding, and a broken bone.
Shalkido was rushed to KUTRRH, where doctors declared him brain dead before he passed away later that evening.
His close friend Oga Obinna confirmed the news, expressing frustration over hospital bureaucracy that delayed treatment.
Shalkido rose to fame through Sailors Gang hits like Wamlambez and Pekejeng, becoming one of Gengetone’s defining voices. His death has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow artists who hailed him as a talented and humble musician gone too soon.
