Police in Nairobi are investigating the brutal killing of a businesswoman whose body was discovered inside a house in Kariba Estate South B days after she was reported missing.
The incident has shocked residents and renewed concerns over domestic-related violence.
The woman was identified as Ann Wangare, who had been missing from her Embakasi residence since December 18.
Her disappearance prompted concern among family members, who later alerted the authorities after efforts to trace her proved unsuccessful.
According to police findings, Wangare was last traced to a house belonging to her former husband on December 21.
Officers gained entry into the residence after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from inside the locked house.
Upon entering the premises, police discovered Wangare’s body hidden under a bed.
Reports indicated that a heavy stone had been placed on her head and that she was lying in a pool of blood, suggesting she had been attacked violently.
The condition of the scene pointed to a deliberate attempt to conceal the crime.
The former husband who owns the house was not found at the scene and has since gone missing.
Police confirmed that he is a person of interest and have urged him to surrender to assist with investigations.
His whereabouts remain unknown as detectives intensify the search.
The body was transferred to the mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause of death.
Investigators stated that the motive behind the killing had not yet been established.
Authorities have assured the public that all leads are being pursued as they work to piece together the final moments of the deceased and bring those responsible to justice.
