President William Ruto has sharply criticized his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, in a heated response that has added fuel to the growing political tension between the two leaders.
Speaking during a public address, President Ruto appeared visibly frustrated as he questioned Gachagua’s authority to lecture him on governance matters. In his remarks, the Head of State dismissed Gachagua as someone who moves around criticizing without offering solutions.
Ruto challenged him to take action instead of making public attacks, saying that if there are responsibilities he believes are not being handled properly, he should step in and address them rather than “reading him lessons.” The President also urged him to stop what he described as unnecessary noise and focus on constructive engagement.
The strong language signals a deepening fallout between the two leaders, who once worked closely together in government. Their public exchanges have increasingly become personal, reflecting the broader political realignments taking shape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Supporters of the President have defended his response as firm leadership, while critics argue that such confrontations highlight the widening cracks within former political alliances.
As the political season gradually heats up, the rivalry between Ruto and Gachagua continues to dominate national headlines, with both sides showing no signs of backing down.
