President Ruto lectures Kenyans-“If you are negative about this country, don’t blame anyone, blame yourself”

William Ruto has called on Kenyans to embrace patriotism and adopt a more positive outlook about the country’s future.

Speaking during a public address, the President urged citizens to avoid negativity, arguing that constantly criticizing the nation without offering solutions does little to drive progress. He told Kenyans that if they feel pessimistic about the country, they should reflect on their own role in shaping its direction rather than shifting blame.

Ruto emphasized that patriotism and loyalty are essential pillars of nation-building. “We must be loyal and patriotic to this country,” he said, reminding citizens that they do not have “a spare country” to run to when challenges arise.

The remarks come amid heightened political and economic debates, with sections of the public expressing frustration over the cost of living and governance issues. Supporters say the President’s message encourages unity and responsibility, while critics argue that patriotism should go hand in hand with accountability and responsive leadership.
