President William Ruto, alongside several top government officials, on Monday joined family, friends, and residents of Kikuyu Constituency in Kiambu County for the funeral of Mzee Isaac Ichung’wa, the father of Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa.
The Head of State paid tribute to the late Mzee Ichung’wa, describing him as a man of wisdom, discipline, and strong values who raised a son that has become a key leader in Kenya’s political landscape. Ruto extended condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of continued support during this difficult moment.
Other leaders present included Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries, MPs, and Senators, who also took turns to celebrate Mzee Ichung’wa’s life. They remembered him as a community pillar whose guidance and humility touched many in Kiambu and beyond.
The funeral drew a large crowd of mourners who gathered to honor Mzee Ichung’wa’s legacy and show solidarity with the family. Leaders further used the occasion to call for unity and continued service to the nation, a value they said the late patriarch strongly stood for.
Mzee Isaac Ichung’wa will be remembered as a devoted family man, a mentor to many, and a respected elder in Kikuyu.
