“Nimesikia pia ile barabara ya kuenda Tseikuru kwa Kalonzo ni ya vumbi. Mimi nimejitolea nitaitengeneza,” – President Ruto

President William Ruto has once again stirred debate in the political arena after boldly addressing the state of the road leading to Tseikuru, the home area of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Speaking during his tour of the region, Ruto said he had received reports that the road connecting residents to Tseikuru was still in a terrible, dusty condition. The President noted that despite Tseikuru being the home of a prominent national figure, the road had remained neglected for years.

Ruto told the crowd that he was committed to ensuring that the long–awaited project is finally implemented under his administration.
According to the President, no part of Kenya should continue suffering because of political differences or regional biases, adding that infrastructure development is a right for all citizens.

The pledge, however, has sparked mixed reactions from Kenyans. Supporters praised the President for showing interest in Ukambani and committing to build a road that many previous leaders had promised but never delivered. Others, especially online critics, saw the statement as a subtle political jab at Kalonzo Musyoka, arguing that Ruto was using development pledges to woo the region ahead of the next general election.

Political analysts have also weighed in, noting that such promises could influence the political dynamics in Ukambani, especially at a time when alliances and negotiations for 2027 are already taking shape.

Despite the divided opinions, residents of Tseikuru expressed hope that the President’s promise will finally bring the long-awaited transformation. Many said that if the road is completed, it would open up business opportunities, reduce transport challenges, and boost the local economy.

Ruto concluded his remarks by assuring residents that his administration is focused on delivering development across the country, insisting that his commitment to build the Tseikuru road was genuine and not driven by politics.
