Pastor James Maina Ng’ang’a, the leader of Neno Evangelical Church, recently shocked his congregation with his bold perspective on not wanting grandchildren. In a viral sermon, Ng’ang’a shared his personal stance on parenting, particularly the challenges of raising daughters. He emphasized the importance of vigilance to protect children from worldly influences and temptations.
Ng’ang’a revealed that during his daughters’ upbringing, he set a clear boundary: if any of them were to become pregnant, they would not be allowed to live in his home. However, he clarified that this decision didn’t mean he would abandon them, but rather offer distant support. His reasoning was deeply rooted in his faith and personal convictions, as he expressed that being a grandparent was not part of his life goals.
“I told my daughters, if you have a child, it’s outside my home. We’ll greet each other, but raising a child in my house—grandchildren? I don’t want that because I am already a grandchild myself,” Ng’ang’a explained. He also emphasized that while his stance was personal and not religious doctrine, he could not reconcile raising grandchildren under his roof with his commitment to his faith.
The pastor’s remarks sparked debate, with many questioning his unconventional beliefs. However, Ng’ang’a maintained that his approach was a matter of personal conviction. “If you manage your life well, I’ll welcome you back. If you’re married, that’s fine, but don’t bring a child into my home,” he concluded.
