Shock and sorrow have gripped residents of Umoja estate in Nairobi after a woman allegedly stabbed her husband to death in the early hours of Sunday morning following a domestic disagreement.
According to witnesses, the tragic incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. when the woman, angered by her husband’s refusal to engage in sexual relations, attacked him with a kitchen knife while he was asleep. She is said to have stabbed him five times — in the chest, neck, and arm — leaving him in a pool of blood.
Neighbours who heard commotion and screams coming from the house rushed to the scene but found the door locked. They were forced to break it down, only to find the man lying lifeless on the floor, while the woman stood by the wall, holding the blood-stained knife.
”He was already dead when we got in. The woman did not even try to run. She just stood there and said, ‘He refused me again,'” said one of the neighbours.
Police from Buru Buru Police Station were called to the scene and arrested the suspect. The body of the deceased was taken to City Mortuary for postmortem.
Neighbours described the couple as quiet and not known for fighting in public. However, some revealed that the woman had previously complained about being neglected in the marriage.
Officers handling the case confirmed that investigations are underway and that the woman will be charged with murder.
”This is a tragic case of domestic violence turned fatal. We urge couples facing challenges in their marriages to seek help, either through counseling or legal means. Violence is not the answer,” said a senior officer.
The incident has left the community shocked and saddened, with many calling for more awareness on peaceful conflict resolution, anger management, and the importance of communication in relationships.
