Former top student Deborah Moraa revealed shocking details about her forced marriage. She shared how a church pastor tricked her into marrying an older truck driver during a desperate search for school fees.
According to Moraa, the pastor promised to help fund her university education after scoring B- in high school. The pastor instead arranged a meeting at Lucky Summer with a 43-year-old truck driver.
“He told me his friend was a good man who would help me get my certificate,” Moraa explained. The pastor claimed the man needed a wife after his previous spouse left with his belongings.
Moraa sought her mother’s advice about the marriage proposal. Her mother supported the idea, hoping it would improve their struggling family’s situation.
The marriage quickly turned into a nightmare for the young bride. The truck driver left her with hostile in-laws who showed clear rejection.
“They viewed me as an outsider and broke any chair I tried to set up,” Moraa recalled. Her husband visited only once every three months during his trucking routes.
The situation worsened after Moraa became pregnant three weeks into the marriage. Her husband refused to support her education, fearing she might leave him.
“He said he would never put another man’s wife through school,” she stated. The rejection continued throughout her pregnancy as family members refused to help.
The final blow came when her husband abandoned her during labor. She discovered him drinking with relatives while she delivered their baby.
Moraa eventually left the marriage when her son turned eighteen months old. Her ex-husband has never provided any support for their child.
The former bright student now works to support herself and her seven-year-old son. She warns young girls about trusting church father figures blindly.
“These people are humans who could be used by the devil to ruin your life,” Moraa cautioned. She continues rebuilding her life through music and education.
The gospel artist currently shares her story through her YouTube channel named Deborah Moraa. She seeks support for her music production and education journey.
