Musa Idambo, a 27-year-old individual hailing from Kakamega, serves as a shining example of a creative and enterprising young person. After relocating to Europe as a student three years ago, Musa effectively utilized the talents he had discovered on the streets of Nairobi, Kenya.
Musa’s journey can be traced back to the Mumias sub-county of Kalamega, although he spent most of his life in the Kangemi slums of Nairobi. Raised by a single mother, he defied the odds and secured a sponsored scholarship to pursue his studies abroad.
During his time in Nairobi, Musa observed the success of Mama Chakulas, who earned a decent income by providing meals to workers at construction sites. Inspired by this entrepreneurial endeavor, Musa decided to give it a try soon after arriving in his new host country.
Finding additional sources of income proved challenging for Musa in his new surroundings. Consequently, he ventured into selling food on construction sites, a venture that has proven highly profitable for him. On a good day, he manages to earn at least 100,000 Kenya shillings from his enterprise. His main clientele consists of foreign workers, to whom he introduces the flavors of African cuisine through his delightful dishes.
Musa’s achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring young innovators in Kenya. As a foreigner, he took a bold step by embarking on a business venture that has now become a lucrative source of income. Thanks to a subsidized scholarship, Musa successfully balanced his studies while working part-time, showcasing his determination and resourcefulness.
