Moyale Father on the Run After Brutally Killing 3-Year-Old Son with a Panga in a Domestic Dispute

A family in Moyale, Marsabit County, is reeling in shock after a three-year-old boy was hacked to death by his father following a domestic quarrel.

According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday night after the man got into a heated argument with his wife. Witnesses said the disagreement quickly escalated, and in a fit of rage, the man armed himself with a panga.

Shockingly, instead of attacking his wife, he turned on their young son. The child was slashed several times on the head, neck, and chest, dying instantly from the deep wounds. The boy’s mother screamed for help, but by the time neighbors arrived, it was too late.

The suspect fled immediately after the attack, leaving the community in disbelief. Police officers who later arrived at the scene confirmed the child’s death and moved the body to the Moyale Sub-County Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Marsabit County Police Commander strongly condemned the killing, calling it an act of extreme cruelty. He assured residents that officers are pursuing the suspect. “This is a very disturbing incident. No child deserves to die in such a painful manner. We will not rest until the suspect is arrested and brought to justice,” he said.

Neighbors and relatives described the young victim as a cheerful child who loved playing around the homestead. They expressed deep sorrow and anger, saying the father’s actions were unimaginable. Some revealed that the couple often quarreled, but no one expected their disputes to end in such a horrific tragedy.

The killing has reignited public debate on rising cases of domestic violence, with calls for more community support and interventions to help families in crisis.

Police have appealed to anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to report immediately to the nearest station. Meanwhile, the grieving mother is being cared for by relatives as she mourns her son.
