In a recent interview with Cynthia Mwangi on Citizen Digital’s “Beyond the Mic” show, Mercy Masika, a popular Kenyan gospel singer, shared how her faith and prayers helped her find her soulmate.
Masika revealed that before meeting her spouse, David Muguro, she had dated several ministers. However, after praying and asking God to reveal her future husband to her, she met David just a week later. Masika claimed that she knew on their first meeting that David was the one for her. They got married a year later, after she graduated from college, and now have three children.
Masika also shared about her upbringing in a household of preachers, which she said made her more intentional about her faith. She described herself as an introvert when she was younger, always seeking out quiet places to be alone. Her serious approach to her relationship with God started at a young age and has continued to guide her throughout her life.
The COVID-19 pandemic period had a profound impact on Masika, as it did for many people around the world. The lockdowns and restrictions taught her that life happens to everyone, regardless of their status or accomplishments. She acknowledged that, as a musician, the pandemic greatly affected her career, with no live performances or shows for almost two years. Masika said that she learned from the experience that she is not above anyone else and that humility is essential in life.
