The renowned actor Mzee Mwamba takes center stage in the widely acclaimed television series “Mother-in-law,” which airs every Sunday at 7:30 pm on Citizen TV, immediately following the Swahili news broadcast. Mwamba, whose name translates to “hard rock,” assumes the role of the dependable family member in this popular show.
Hailing from the Marrison area of Nairobi County, Mwamba was born in 1954, making him 68 years old in 2022. Despite his flourishing career in acting, there is a noticeable scarcity of publicly accessible information about his family background.
For his formal education, Mwamba attended Marison Primary School and later pursued his studies at Dagoretti High School. Although he actively participated in school theatre festivals, it was only after graduating that he decided to turn his passion for acting into a full-fledged profession.
Mwamba’s journey into the world of acting commenced in the 1980s, while he was still a student. The catalyst for his decision to pursue acting as a career was witnessing one of his favorite actors, Mzee Ojwang, in a play. Subsequently, he became a prominent member of Mzee Ojwang’s acting troupe, where he honed his skills for an extended period. In 2008, Mwamba further solidified his standing in the industry by joining the cast of the immensely popular show “Mother-in-law.”
Despite the demands of his busy career, Mwamba remains a committed family man. He shares his life with Alice Wacuka, and together, they have been blessed with numerous children and grandchildren.
