A remarkable 123-year-old woman has captured the attention of many by sharing the poignant story of her century-long existence without the companionship of a husband or the joy of motherhood.
Hailing from a Rwandan village, the elderly woman, named Nyirakajumba Peragie, disclosed to the Afrimax channel that she has led a life devoid of any physical connection with a man, maintaining her status as a lifelong virgin.
Reflecting on her unusual journey, Nyirakajumba expressed, “In my entire 123 years, I have never been in the company of a man. My narrative is somewhat unique. It’s true that I am a virgin. In my youth, I contemplated love extensively, but I never crossed paths with a man,” she revealed with a wistful sigh.
The genesis of her singular experience dates back to the early 1900s when, in adherence to the customs of her village, young girls were strictly prohibited from socializing with boys. Complying with this cultural norm led her to a complete segregation from men, ultimately resulting in a life lived in solitude.
“I had no inclination to socialize with men. There was a deep-seated fear of them that likely deterred me from forming any romantic connections throughout my youth. I would observe men performing tasks around our home, yet I never harbored any romantic feelings towards them,” she reminisced.
Despite relocating frequently over the years, Nyirakajumba reached a point where she desired companionship and yearned to find a man to be her life partner. However, her attempts were in vain, and she found herself unable to secure a companion.
“As I grew older, I began to crave the company of a husband because most of my peers were married. Regrettably, I couldn’t find a man despite my earnest efforts. By the time I felt the desire for marriage, I was already past my youth, and my age seemed to deter men from approaching me,” she lamented.
Undeterred by the challenges posed by her advanced age, Nyirakajumba maintains a steadfast belief that she may yet find a companion to bring warmth to her life before her time on this earth concludes.
“Truly, I haven’t given up hope. If I encounter someone interested in me, I won’t hesitate. I understand that my age presents a significant obstacle for many men, but I refuse to surrender until I find a suitable husband,” she declared with unwavering determination.
