Imagine starting a job with a Masters Degree, only to discover that your colleagues, who are now your seniors, scored much lower in their academic pursuits. This is the reality that Julian Njagi faced.
After excelling in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Julian entered university with high hopes of transforming his life. Driven by optimism, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance, envisioning a prosperous career in one of Kenya’s leading firms.
Upon completing his undergraduate studies, Julian further enhanced his academic credentials by obtaining a Masters Degree. However, unbeknownst to him, the rapidly increasing rate of unemployment in Kenya awaited him.
Like many other well-qualified individuals, Julian found himself amidst the pool of jobless Kenyans, despite his decorated academic background. Numerous attempts to secure a high-paying job proved futile.
Faced with the harsh reality of unemployment, Julian reluctantly applied for a position in the Kenya Police Service. Fortunately, he was accepted as a Constable, the lowest rank in the police service.
Upon reporting to his assigned station, Julian was taken aback to discover that some of his seniors were former classmates who had scored much lower, earning grades as low as D in KCSE. Some of them held positions as corporals and inspectors.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Julian Njagi, who shared his experience on social media, embraced his new role at the Kenya Police Service. Recognizing that this job was his only means of earning a livelihood, he approached it with a positive attitude and determination to make the best of the situation.
