Martha Karua: Only Orengo and Sifuna Spoke Genuinely at Raila’s Burial, the Rest Were Following a State House Script

NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua has claimed that most of the leaders who spoke during Raila Odinga’s burial did not speak from their hearts but were instead reading from a State House script.

Karua said that only Siaya Governor James Orengo and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna delivered genuine tributes to the late opposition leader, while the rest were motivated by fear of losing their government positions.

“It was only James Orengo and Edwin Sifuna who spoke genuinely at Raila’s burial. Others were just following a script from State House, while some were only interested in safeguarding their jobs in government,” Karua stated.

Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans, with some praising her for speaking boldly, while others accused her of politicizing a moment of national mourning.

Karua has remained one of the most outspoken figures in opposition politics and a close ally of Raila Odinga, often criticizing what she terms as State interference in opposition affairs.
