One of Kenya’s most celebrated comedians, Mammito Eunice, has left many Kenyans talking after revealing how the current economic situation has affected her personal life.
Speaking during a recent interview, Mammito said that before President William Ruto took office, her boyfriend used to give her a monthly girlfriend allowance of Ksh 10,000. However, things changed drastically after Ruto became president.
According to Mammito, she now receives as low as Ksh 1,000 or even Ksh 500, and on some months, she gets nothing at all. She jokingly added that at times she is the one who ends up giving her boyfriend money because life has become tougher for everyone.
Mammito said she understands her partner’s struggles, especially when he tells her that he cannot manage to maintain the Ksh 10,000 monthly allowance due to the high cost of living.
Despite her claims, a section of Kenyans online expressed doubt, arguing that Mammito is among the top female comedians and content creators in the country, earning substantial income from her work.
Others suggested that the comedian may be downplaying her situation, especially because she is rumoured to be married to a silent, wealthy man believed to be the father of her child.
