Emerging Dancehall sensation KRG The Don, also known as Bughaa, recently sparked online discussions by revealing his future collaboration rates. The artist behind the Mambo Imechemuka hit disclosed that starting from the upcoming year, 2024, he would be charging fellow artists a substantial $1 million (equivalent to Ksh 154 million) for joint projects.
During an open interview with Kenyan Muziki while in Uganda, KRG The Don confidently proclaimed that he would be releasing the world’s biggest song in 2024. This revelation left Kenyan music enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the identity of the fortunate artist set to collaborate with Bughaa.
When questioned about potential collaborations with fellow Kenyan artists, the Dancehall maestro expressed openness, but with a significant condition—they must be willing to pay the hefty sum of Ksh 154 million.
“In Kenya, I believe I’ve given them an opportunity to collaborate with me. The window is closing this year; if you haven’t collaborated with me yet, you’ll need a substantial amount of money because I’ll be charging $1 million for collaborations starting next year,” shared KRG The Don during the interview with Kenyan Muziki.
As the grace period for potential collaborations with Bughaa comes to an end in a matter of days, Kenyan music enthusiasts find themselves eagerly anticipating the revelation of the fortunate artist who secures a collaboration with the rising star.
However, KRG The Don’s declaration stirred discontent among a segment of Kenyans. Many voiced their opinions, asserting that Bughaa’s proposed collaboration fee is unjustified. According to critics, KRG The Don is perceived as a relatively minor player in the music industry, grappling to establish a firm foothold.
