Bernard Musyoki, 39, from Kitui County, has publicly disclosed the financial support he receives from his European wife, Deborah Jan Spicer, who is nearing 70 years old. Speaking to the media, Musyoki credited his wife for transforming his life, explaining that he has never faced the financial struggles many men experience while supporting their spouses.
Musyoki revealed that since marrying Spicer, he has been receiving KSh 100,000 per month, which has helped cover their basic needs and enabled him to explore business and development opportunities back in Kitui.
The financial stability has inspired Musyoki to consider a political career, as he confirmed plans to contest for a Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Musyoki emphasized that he has been responsible with the allowance, investing in several successful projects in their rural home that generate additional income for the family.
“Ever since we made our union official, this support has allowed us to meet our requirements without financial strain. I’ve also invested in projects that are helping sustain us,” he said.
The revelation has sparked discussions online, with many admiring his transparency while others debated the dynamics of age-gap marriages and financial dependency. Musyoki’s story highlights how financial security can shape life choices, including ambitions in politics and entrepreneurship.
