Kenya Power announces power restoration in some parts of the country

Electricity has been restored in most parts of the country, according to an update from Kenya Power.

After a blackout that affected numerous regions on Friday morning, Kenya Power reported that power has been reinstated in the North Rift, Western Central Rift, Nairobi, and Mt. Kenya areas.

This restoration includes major towns such as Nyeri, Embu, Kirinyaga, Nanyuki, Nakuru, Naivasha, Thika, Eldoret, Kericho, Kakamega, Siaya, Busia, Vihiga, Kisumu, Bungoma, and Webuye.

Kenya Power expressed apologies for the inconvenience caused and reassured the public of their commitment to swiftly resolving the issue.

“We apologize for the disruption caused by the outage affecting various regions. Our teams are actively working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” the company stated. “Please stay tuned for further updates on our progress and details about the restoration efforts.”

This incident follows Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary James Wandayi’s recent affirmation of the government’s dedication to minimizing power outages.

CS Wandayi highlighted that the ministry has put in place several strategies to address frequent power interruptions.

“We have implemented measures and systems to reduce the frequency of blackouts. In the event they do occur, we have mechanisms to restore power swiftly,” Wandayi assured.
