A police officer from the Kariobangi South Police Post who was reported missing on Sunday, June 15, has been located.
Inspector Charles Muriungi Koroneli was found at his residence in Rongai, Kajiado County. According to his wife, Edna Kanyiri Kithure, Koroneli appeared distressed after informing her that he had lost his Ceska pistol (S/NO.B022908), which was loaded with 15 bullets, under unclear circumstances.
“He suddenly went to the washing area and ingested a pesticide (Organophosphate poisoning). He was rushed to Nairobi Women’s Hospital in Rongai, where he is currently receiving treatment,” a report filed at Mowlem Police Station states.
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers confirmed that Koroneli had indeed ingested the poison. An investigation has been launched to recover the missing firearm.
“Appropriate action has been taken, and a search party has been dispatched to his house and the areas he had previously visited,” the report adds.
