“Kama unapinga Ruto usikanyage Kitui East… Ukikuja na kuongea vibaya kuhusu Ruto hautatoka salama,” – Nimrod Mbai Warns

Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai has caused a storm online after issuing a bold and highly charged warning to politicians and critics he claims are undermining President William Ruto.

Speaking during a public gathering in Kitui East, Mbai declared that anyone opposing President Ruto should keep off the constituency entirely. He said residents of Kitui East have already made up their minds about supporting the Head of State, and therefore anyone speaking negatively about him would not be welcomed.

Mbai claimed that certain leaders have been moving from region to region attacking the President for political mileage. He accused them of attempting to mislead Ukambani residents, insisting that the people of Kitui East are firmly aligned with Ruto’s development agenda.

In his fiery remarks, the MP warned that anyone who dares to visit Kitui East with the intention of “bad-mouthing” the President should expect a hostile reception from the community. He told the crowd that their loyalty to Ruto is not negotiable, adding that they will not entertain what he termed as “political insults disguised as opposition.”

His remarks immediately ignited mixed reactions across social media and political circles.
Some supporters praised the MP for defending the President and for standing firm with Kenya Kwanza. Others, however, criticised the comments as reckless, divisive and potentially dangerous—arguing that no leader should threaten citizens over political opinions.

Political analysts also noted that Mbai’s strong message reflects the growing political tension in Ukambani, where both government and opposition leaders are intensely fighting for influence ahead of the 2027 elections.

Despite the backlash, Mbai has maintained that he is simply protecting what he views as the interests of his people, claiming that Ruto has shown goodwill to Kitui East through development promises and ongoing government projects.
