Renowned media personality Joyce Gituro recently opened up about some of the personal experiences that have shaped her life, particularly her marriage and upbringing.

Speaking in an interview with Jeff Kuria, Joyce reflected on her past relationship and the challenges she faced. She revealed that before joining KBC, she was already in a serious relationship, though they were not living together at the time. That changed after she secured her position, and they decided to move in together.

Despite some early signs that the relationship might be troubled, Joyce said she tried to make it work. “There were signs of insecurity and a lack of friendship between us, but I chose to stay,” she shared. She also noted that she had a daughter from a previous relationship before entering the marriage.

Joyce described how issues in her personal life sometimes spilled into her professional environment. She recalled moments when her then-partner would show up at her workplace unexpectedly or take her car, which made it difficult for her to move freely.

Later on, she explained, her partner became deeply involved in church activities, which led to further distance between them. Joyce even sought help from his family, but the situation didn’t improve.

At one point, he left home and was gone for an extended period. During this time, Joyce struggled to explain his absence to their children and felt the emotional weight of the situation.

In addition to her marital experiences, Joyce also spoke about her early life. She revealed that she was raised in a large polygamous family. “My father had five wives and 33 children. My mother was the fifth wife,” she said, highlighting the complexities she experienced growing up.

Through her story, Joyce Gituro offered a rare glimpse into the personal challenges behind her public image, touching on resilience, family, and the importance of mental and emotional well-being.
