JOHO’s associate linked to an international drug trafficking cartel at JKIA – He even sponsored him to vie for MCA

Fresh details have emerged linking a close associate of former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho to an international drug trafficking ring allegedly operating through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The suspect, identified as Mohamed Muamar, was reportedly captured on CCTV assisting a foreign national to smuggle cocaine past airport security.

According to investigators, Muamar is believed to have leveraged strong political connections for years, allegedly enjoying protection and influence in powerful circles.

Sources familiar with the case claim that Joho had previously supported Muamar financially in his bid to contest for an MCA seat in Nairobi County during the last two elections.

It is further alleged that whenever Joho visits Nairobi, Muamar acts as his driver and personal assistant, granting him proximity to top political figures and exclusive events.

The revelation has heightened public scrutiny around Joho’s associates as detectives intensify investigations into the JKIA drug smuggling network, which authorities believe involves both local and foreign operatives.

Security agencies are now said to be tracing Muamar’s movements and contacts as they work to dismantle what appears to be one of the most sophisticated trafficking routes in the region.
