An increasing number of Kenyan women who once chose the path of becoming Catholic nuns are now coming forward with stories of regret and emotional turmoil. Many of them reveal they were either pressured by family circumstances or made the decision too hastily, without fully understanding the lifelong commitment it required.
One such case is that of a 42-year-old Luhya woman who recently opened up about her personal struggles. She admits she is battling stress and deep regret over becoming a nun. Reflecting on her decision, she says she was too young and naïve when she chose to devote her life to Christ.
Now approaching her 43rd birthday this November, she feels she has lost 17 valuable years in the church. With no children, no established career, and a lingering sense of unfulfillment, she describes herself as a frustrated soul seeking a second chance at life.
Despite her past, she is now open to the idea of marriage. She candidly shared that while she is not a virgin, she is ready to settle down with someone who accepts her for who she is and is willing to build a future together.
