“I Didn’t Rape That Child, ”80-Year-Old Man Cries Out In Prison After He Was Arrested Over Defilement

An elderly man from Murang’a has shared a heartbreaking account of the events that led to his imprisonment, a story that was aired on Inooro TV just hours ago. The man, identified as Eliud Njuguna, is currently serving a nine-year sentence, a punishment he insists was triggered not by guilt, but by a long-standing land dispute with a woman he once considered a close friend.

According to Njuguna, his troubles began in December 2018, shortly after leaving church around midday. He recalls being stopped by police officers who informed him he was under arrest. What shocked him the most was the nature of the accusations — he was being linked to an alleged defilement incident.

“I Never Committed That Crime”

From the moment he was taken into custody, Njuguna has consistently denied the allegations. He told Inooro TV that he had never harmed anyone, insisting that the case brought against him was fabricated.

He alleges that a woman he knew — and with whom he had a land-related conflict — wanted him out of the way. According to him, she engineered the defilement accusations hoping he would be locked away permanently.

However, Njuguna says he struggled to defend himself, especially in a courtroom setting where the complainant was a minor who could not fully understand the situation, making his defence difficult to sustain.

Appeal Still Pending

Despite being convicted and sentenced to nine years, Njuguna has not given up. He appealed his case at the Murang’a court and is currently waiting to be notified of the next steps. He hopes the justice system will reconsider his circumstances and give him another chance to prove his innocence.

A Plea From an 80-Year-Old Prisoner

Njuguna shared that even though he is behind bars, his relationship with his wife remains strong. The two speak frequently, and her support gives him hope.

Now aged 80, Njuguna is pleading with the government to consider his age and release him. He says prison life is extremely difficult for elderly inmates and believes he deserves a chance to spend his remaining years with his family.

Warning to Young Men

In conclusion, Njuguna issued a stern warning to young men across the country. Regardless of circumstances, he urged them to avoid any situation that may be interpreted as defilement, noting that even simple misunderstandings can lead to life-altering consequences.

His emotional testimony has sparked conversations online, with many calling for a closer look into the case to determine whether justice was truly served.
