Moses Wetangula, the former Bungoma Senator and National Assembly speaker, is a prominent figure in Kenyan politics known for his outspoken nature. Despite his public persona, he has managed to keep his private family life largely away from the media spotlight.
Wetangula is a committed family man with multiple wives. His first wife, Phyllis Wetangula, reportedly does not live with him for undisclosed reasons, maintaining a degree of privacy in their relationship.
The identity of his second wife remains undisclosed, but local sources in Bungoma suggest she is a Bukusu lady. The union, which began in 2011, resulted in the birth of a child. However, reports indicate that Wetangula has not been actively involved in their lives, leading the wife to seek legal intervention in 2013. She sought financial support amounting to Ksh. 270,000 monthly, along with an additional Ksh. 120,000 annually for the children’s necessities.
Anne Wacheke Ngugi, Wetangula’s third wife, gained notoriety in 2016 when she was accused of assaulting him over alleged infidelity. Surprisingly, the senator intervened to prevent her arrest, possibly to avoid public embarrassment.
In an unfortunate incident on February 18, 2016, Wetangula claimed that Anne attacked and injured him at their Karen home. He received medical treatment at Karen Hospital and was issued a P3 form to document the incident.
Despite the controversies surrounding his personal life, Wetangula is also a devoted father to several children, including Fidel Wetangula, Sheila Wetangula, Tamara Wetangula, and two children from his customary marriage. The intricate dynamics of Wetangula’s family life remain an intriguing aspect of his otherwise public existence.
