In an interview with Spmbuzzke, Peter Omwaka, also known as Guardian Angel, asserts himself as the only Kenyan gospel artist residing in the affluent neighborhood of Karen.
The renowned singer, famous for his hit track “Yesu sio mwizi,” confidently expressed that not only is his music career flourishing, but his various businesses are also thriving.
“I won’t deny it, I am financially stable. I might be the sole gospel artist who calls Karen home. You see, Ringtone resides in Runda, not Karen. Living in Karen is not something one can do aimlessly; I live a comfortable life,” he proudly stated.
Additionally, Peter revealed that he is involved in two or three other business ventures alongside his music. He emphasizes that music is a lucrative source of income for him, debunking any notion that he doesn’t make money from his craft.
While acknowledging that the music industry might not be equally profitable for everyone, particularly new artists, Guardian Angel expressed his sense of responsibility towards those who depend on him and the various financial obligations he has to fulfill.
“I cannot make a sweeping statement claiming that music pays everyone. There are artists who are not at the same level as I am, who struggle to earn a consistent income or secure gigs. So when I talk about the financial prospects of music, I take into account others as well. There are still individuals who are striving in this industry. If we establish proper structures, we can create opportunities that benefit everyone,” he explained.
As he delved into the intricacies of his financial commitments, Peter revealed the magnitude of his responsibilities. With multiple businesses to oversee and farms that require attention, he finds himself faced with bills amounting to millions each month. Furthermore, he employs individuals in both his music career and his various enterprises. He acknowledges that not everyone can be placed in the same financial bracket, considering the diverse stages of growth within the industry.
When discussing his personal life, Guardian Angel attributed a significant portion of his success to his wife, recognizing her unwavering support.
“My wife is my rock; I would never leave her. If it weren’t for her, I doubt I would be where I am today. I truly appreciate her contribution to my career and my life as a whole. When I reflect on the progress I’ve made since meeting her, I see a substantial difference, even beyond monetary aspects,” he expressed gratefully.
Despite his wife’s absence during the interview, he took the opportunity to acknowledge her relentless efforts. Peter admitted that he can be a challenging individual to work with, and anyone who has collaborated with him can attest to his demanding nature.
