Required Documents

Registration Methods

You can register for SHIF using one of three methods: USSD code, online portal, or in-person at authorized agents.

Option 1: USSD Code Registration

  1. Dial 147# on your mobile phone.
  2. Enter Your National ID Number: You’ll be prompted to input your national identification number.
  3. Provide Personal Information: Follow the on-screen prompts to enter your name, date of birth, and contact information.
  4. Complete the Registration: Confirm the details and submit the registration.

Option 2: Online Registration

  1. Visit the SHIF Website: Open your web browser and go to the official SHIF website at sha.go.ke.
  2. Create an Account: Click on the “Register” button at the top of the homepage. Fill in your personal information, including your ID type and number, and the phone number associated with your ID. Click “Proceed” to create your account.
  3. Verify Your Account: An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your registered phone number. Enter the OTP on the website to verify your account.
  4. Complete Registration: Follow the remaining prompts to finalize your registration.

Option 3: In-Person Registration

  1. Visit an Authorized Agent: Go to any designated NHIF office or other registration points authorized by the Social Health Authority (SHA).
  2. Provide Required Documents: Submit the necessary documents and information to the community health promoters or registration officers.
  3. Complete the Process: The officers will assist you in completing the registration process.
