Gloria Ntazola, a young woman who gained recognition for her bold confrontation with county askaris, commonly known as Kanjo, has opened up about the mixed reactions she received from her family and boyfriend, despite the online acclaim she received.
Ntazola candidly revealed that her actions didn’t sit well with her parents, particularly her mother, who serves as a church pastor. She described her confrontation with the Kanjo as resembling an injured porcupine, and this left her mother deeply disappointed. Her mother, questioning her behavior, expressed her dismay. However, Ntazola responded by explaining that having a tough demeanor is almost a necessity in Nairobi.
Similarly, her father was not pleased with her altercation with the Kanjo. In the beginning, even her boyfriend was upset about her actions, but he eventually commended her for her courage in standing up to the Kanjo.
At the age of 25, Ntazola is a businesswoman, operating two cosmetic shops in Nairobi. She disclosed that on social media, her main focus is creating humorous content. She stressed that she has no regrets regarding her actions but does regret the harsh and offensive language she used during the confrontation with the Kanjo.
After her TikTok account suffered a setback, possibly due to the use of offensive language when dealing with the Kanjo, Ntazola expressed her astonishment at how her supporters promptly followed her on her new account once she informed them about it. She proudly announced, “My account faced some challenges, likely because of my choice of language when confronting the Kanjo. However, I was amazed at the speed and scale at which people followed me once I announced my new account. At this point, I have more than 50,000 followers.”
