Renowned Kenyan artist Akothee has shared an enchanting tale of how music played a pivotal role in bringing her together with her third child’s father, Mr. Dominic Decherf.
Akothee, a mother of five, paid tribute to the late Mombasa-based musician, Ally B, whose music deeply resonated with her. She attributed the connection between her and Mr. Decherf to one of Ally B’s most famous songs, “Maria.”
Expressing her heartfelt gratitude for the profound impact of music on her life, Akothee warmly reminisced: “I want to express my deep appreciation for the role you played in my life – the joy, the inspiration, and most importantly, for bringing me my life partner. It was your song ‘Maria’ that made Ambassador fall in love with me. We used to jest about it, and Dominic would have been greatly disappointed had you left us.”
A decade ago, Akothee crossed paths with Mr. Dominic Decherf, and they embarked on a romantic journey together before eventually parting ways.
Regretfully, Akothee admitted that she had lost touch with Ally B in recent times, explaining that she had been engrossed in navigating the complexities of life. She expressed her sorrow at Ally B’s passing, acknowledging that their shared experiences, including trips to Europe, had shown the value of humility.
In her farewell to Ally B, who passed away on November 1st, Akothee tenderly offered, “Rest in peace, my friend.” It is reported that the gifted musician was rushed to the hospital after experiencing health issues.
Fans and fellow celebrities took to social media to grieve the loss of this music icon.
Ally B had also ventured into politics, running for the Member of the County Assembly seat in Junda Ward, Kisauni, Mombasa County, under the Jubilee Party ticket in 2017.
Reflecting on his brother’s health, Ally B’s younger sibling, Mohammed, disclosed that his brother had been ailing for the past two weeks. “He was diagnosed with pneumonia, but he managed to recover. However, a few days ago, he began experiencing breathing difficulties and appeared weak. His blood pressure was alarmingly low, but the doctors were able to stabilize it,” he revealed.
