High Court Orders Samidoh to Surrender his Passport After NPS Accused him of Abandoning Duty

The High Court has ordered Mugithi singer and police officer Samidoh Muchoki to hand over his passport following accusations from the National Police Service (NPS) that he has abandoned his official duties.

The NPS claims that Samidoh, who is currently in the United States, has failed to report to work and continues to perform at concerts abroad without proper clearance from his superiors. The court ruling comes amid growing criticism of uniformed officers engaging in side hustles at the expense of public service.

In their application, the NPS accused Samidoh of dereliction of duty, alleging that he has prioritized his music career over his responsibilities as a law enforcement officer. The police service wants the court to restrict his international travel as investigations into his conduct continue.

Samidoh, who is attached to the Administration Police, is yet to respond publicly to the court order. It remains unclear whether he will comply with the directive while overseas or challenge the decision through his legal team.

The court is expected to issue further directions on the matter once Samidoh returns to the country
