Kenyan media personality Kamene Goro recently addressed rumors and speculation regarding her relationships with former radio colleagues Andrew Kibe, Jalang’o, and Obinna. During a recent interview, Kamene clarified that there were no romantic connections between her and any of her former male coworkers, putting to rest any lingering doubts.
In response to a question about her alleged affair with one of her male colleagues, Kamene debunked these claims. She emphasized that her professional collaborations with various male friends, such as Obinna, had been consistently misconstrued as romantic involvements. Kamene explained, “It started when I was working with Kibe, then it became when I was with Jalas, and now it was Obinna, and people were saying, ‘Guys!’ I actually have more male friends than female friends, and we share strong friendships. I’ve known Obinna and Jalang’o for a long time, and guess what, we’re just friends. Nothing beyond that has ever happened; we’re homies.”
Kamene’s journey in the radio industry involved working closely with Andrew Kibe. They launched their radio careers at NRG Radio, hosting the morning drive when the station premiered on March 1, 2018. Their partnership continued until June 2019, when they both left NRG Radio and were recruited by Kiss FM.
However, a legal dispute arose when NRG Radio accused Kamene and Kibe of breaching non-compete clauses in their contracts. Consequently, their on-air absence persisted until September 2019 when they eventually joined Kiss FM.
Kibe’s departure from Kiss FM in June 2020 marked the end of their working relationship, and it also marked the beginning of their public dispute. Kibe took to his podcast to criticize Kamene, sparking a feud between the two.
Kamene herself exited Kiss FM on January 27, 2023. During an interview with vloggers following her final show, she reflected on her friendship with Kibe and revealed that their friendship soured when she decided not to leave Kiss FM with him in 2020. She explained, “Kibe was my friend, and I believe when he left, he expected me to follow suit. It didn’t sit well with him that my career took a different path.” Kamene further noted that their feud escalated when Kibe began tarnishing her reputation, and she found his content distasteful.
