Joseph Ogidi Oyoo, better known as Gidi Ogidi, has traversed an impressive journey from his modest origins in the slums of Kenya to emerge as a prominent radio host and media personality.

Renowned as one half of the celebrated duo, Gidi na Ghost, he co-hosts the morning show “Patanisho” on Radio Jambo, dedicated to reuniting estranged lovers or friends.

Gidi’s trajectory to success is characterized by his unwavering determination, undeniable talent, and tireless work ethic, earning him a substantial following in the dynamic realm of media.

His affinity for music developed early on, prompting him to work diligently to fund his education. He completed his studies at Aquinas High School and pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Technology (IT) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Subsequently, he expanded his academic horizons by attaining a Master’s in Business Administration from the Strathmore School of Business.

Gidi’s musical journey gained momentum when he collaborated with rapper Maji Maji, catching the attention of producer Ted Josiah while performing at a club. The duo, known as Gidi Gidi Maji Maji, gained popularity with their debut single “Ting Badi Malo” and reached new heights with the political anthem “Unbwogable” during the 2002 elections in Kenya.

Despite their success, Gidi and Maji Maji parted ways in 2005, leading Gidi to explore a new direction. In 2006, he joined the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in the IT department. A fateful encounter with Carol Radull, head of news at Kiss FM, paved the way for Gidi to transition into radio hosting. Joining Radio Jambo, he co-hosted the morning show “Patanisho” with Ghost Mulee, captivating audiences and reuniting estranged loved ones.

In 2015, Gidi founded his record label, Trendy Media Communication Limited, with the vision of supporting emerging artists. He aimed to provide opportunities for recording, video production, and marketing, advocating for easing the financial burden on talented newcomers and implementing revenue-sharing mechanisms after success.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Gidi takes pride in his role as a family man. Married to Ziva Elijah, who works in France, they share the joy of parenting their daughter, Marie-Rose Hera Ogidi, born in 2016. Gidi frequently shares glimpses of his family life on social media, underscoring his love and commitment to his loved ones.
