Uganda’s First Son and Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has made headlines once again after publicly offering to help Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan restore calm amid ongoing political tension in her country.
Taking to his social media page, the outspoken general wrote:
“Madam Samia Suluhu, if you need help in calming down the situation in your house, just dial my number.”
The message quickly went viral across East Africa, sparking a mix of amusement, curiosity, and political debate. Many interpreted Muhoozi’s remarks as a show of regional solidarity, while others viewed it as an example of his characteristic bluntness and humor in dealing with political issues.
Muhoozi, known for his frequent online statements on regional politics, has in the past commented on leadership and security matters across neighboring countries. His latest post comes at a time when Tanzania is facing post-election unrest following the declaration of President Suluhu as the winner with 98% of the vote.
Reactions from Tanzanians were sharply divided — some thanked him for showing concern, while others advised him to respect Tanzania’s sovereignty and allow the government to handle its internal affairs.
Meanwhile, officials from Dodoma have not issued an official response to Muhoozi’s comment.
Political analysts suggest the general’s statement could be interpreted as both symbolic and strategic — a reminder of Uganda’s regional influence and Muhoozi’s growing profile as a vocal figure in East African politics.
