Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has taken a swipe at Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki after he appeared to counter former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s remarks on the Linda Mama program.
In a fiery statement, Gachagua dismissed Kindiki’s involvement in the debate, insisting that women should be the ones to speak on issues affecting them directly.
“Wewe soprano, mambo ya wamama ungeacha wamama watoe maoni. Wewe unajua nini kuhusu Linda Mama na hujawahi tumia? Leave women matters to women,” Gachagua said, drawing laughter and mixed reactions from the crowd.
The Deputy President’s comments come amid growing political exchanges surrounding the government’s position on Linda Mama, a free maternity program that has benefited thousands of women across the country.
Gachagua’s jab at Kindiki has since gone viral, with many Kenyans weighing in on whether the CS should have commented on the matter in the first place. The clash highlights the deepening rifts within the political class as leaders continue to trade words over health and social welfare policies.
