A Kenyan mother has gone viral after an emotional plea in court, begging a judge to detain her son, saying she could no longer control his behavior.
The distraught mother told the court that her son had become a threat to her life, frequently stealing household items and refusing to work or contribute to the family in any way.
“I’d rather have him locked up than buried or burying me,” she told the judge, her voice breaking with emotion.
She described living in fear under the same roof with her son, who she claimed had become increasingly violent and irresponsible.
In response, the judge offered her the option to either stand as her son’s bond contact or decline.
The court ruled that the mother could pay the bond anytime she felt comfortable doing so, essentially leaving the decision of her son’s release in her hands.
