Comedian Eric Omondi has issued a heartfelt appeal to the public after a newborn baby was found abandoned in Rongai.
In a video he shared, the infant was seen wrapped in a white blanket and placed inside a grey travel bag, a sight that moved many Kenyans to tears. The child, who appeared to be resting peacefully, was rescued and placed under police care.
Omondi called on the baby’s mother—or anyone with information about her—to come forward, stressing that the situation should be handled with compassion rather than judgment.
“The way this baby was carefully wrapped shows the mother loved her, but perhaps she was overwhelmed by her circumstances. We will not be quick to judge,” he wrote.
His appeal has touched many online, with Kenyans offering prayers, emotional support, and even volunteering to assist in the child’s care. Authorities have since confirmed that children’s officers are working to ensure the baby’s safety while investigations to trace the mother continue.
The incident has once again highlighted the painful reality of infant abandonment, often linked to poverty, stigma, and lack of support for struggling mothers.
Through his ‘Sisi kwa Sisi’ initiative, Omondi continues to use his influence and personal experiences to bring hope to families in need—reminding Kenyans that even in moments of despair, compassion can make all the difference.
