Kioko Tosh, a Kenyan mother living in Dubai, has shared a heartbreaking story that has moved many across social media. She revealed the pain of losing her baby and having to bury her in the desert, far from home and family.
In an emotional TikTok video, Kioko described the unimaginable grief and loneliness she felt as she laid her child to rest. Surrounded by only a few friends, she was seen planting flowers on the tiny grave in the desert, saying softly, “And just like that, I had to bury my little angel far away from home.”
Her story struck a deep chord with many, especially Africans living abroad, who understood the struggle of dealing with tragedy in a foreign land. The video quickly went viral, drawing an outpouring of sympathy and support from people online.
Several users shared their own experiences of loss and isolation. One, identified as @ericmoby, recounted losing multiple family members while in Dubai, saying he never got the chance to return home and grieve properly.
Others offered comfort and advice, with some urging African mothers to consider returning home for childbirth to avoid such devastating circumstances. One commenter wrote, “Sorry mum. It’s always advisable for us Africans to run back home for childbirth — Dubai is not the best option.”
