Following an autopsy performed on the late TV journalist Rita Tinina, it has been determined that she passed away due to severe pneumonia.
Speaking to the press at Umash Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, Timothy Njaga, the family spokesperson, confirmed that the autopsy was conducted by pathologist Peter Ndegwa, and the family found the results satisfactory.
“We were present during the postmortem, which was carried out by Dr. Ndegwa and our family pathologist. We have received confirmation that the late Rita succumbed to severe pneumonia,” Njaga stated.
The family has requested privacy and time to mourn their loss, also expressing gratitude towards the media for their supportive messages.
“It’s important to remember that there’s a grieving family behind this tragedy,” Njaga emphasized.
Tinina was discovered deceased at her residence in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, on Sunday, March 17, 2024.
The journalist had previously worked at KTN, part of the Standard Group, before joining NTV at Nation Media Group in October 2023, where she served as an editor until her passing.
