US-based political commentator Cosmo Choy has unleashed a brutal verbal assault on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of hypocrisy and double standards in the ongoing Mbeere political battles.

In a fiery online video that quickly went viral, Cosmo Choy dismissed Gachagua’s recent remarks suggesting that Mt Kenya voters should elect educated leaders. He argued that Gachagua was contradicting himself through his choice of candidate in the Mbeere by-election.

Without holding back, Cosmo Choy tore into Gachagua:

“Hii chokoraa inaitwa Gachagua juzi amesema ati anataka watu wamesoma kutoka Mt Kenya ndio wachaguliwe. Sasa huko Mbeere anasupport strip club dancer ati atachaguliwe. Kweli huyu Gachagua ni kifagio,” he said.

Cosmo Choy further mocked the candidate Gachagua is supporting, claiming he was ready to help the aspirant secure work abroad if the election does not favor him.

“Huyo msanii akianguka mimi nitamtafutia kazi hapa Nevada afanye juu hiyo ndio kazi yake,” he added, igniting a storm of reactions online.

His remarks have triggered fierce debate, with some Kenyans saying he crossed the line with personal insults, while others applauded him for calling out what they believe is political inconsistency within the Mt Kenya leadership.

Analysts note that Cosmo Choy has built a reputation for unfiltered political commentary, often targeting top leaders without hesitation. His latest outburst adds to the heightened tension surrounding the Mbeere by-election, which has become a battleground for regional influence and 2027 positioning.

As the contest intensifies, observers say such fiery exchanges reflect the deep divisions shaping Mt Kenya politics — divisions likely to grow louder as election season draws nearer.
