Comedian Njoro: How I Became Broke After Wasting Sh. 4 million On Alcohol and Parties

Comedian Njoro candidly shared the repercussions of a lifestyle characterized by incessant partying and excessive alcohol consumption, revealing that it led to a staggering financial loss of Sh. 4 million. During an interview on Massawe Japanni’s radio show, Njoro disclosed that he had squandered his earnings from three trips to the United States, where he pocketed Sh. 1.3 million on each occasion.

Reflecting on his past, Njoro admitted to a period of extravagance fueled by a false sense of financial invincibility. The allure of constant revelry seemed boundless, and he failed to foresee the rapid depletion of his wealth. Consequently, he found himself in dire financial straits.

In July of 2020, Njoro opened up about grappling with despair to the extent of attempting suicide on multiple occasions. The comedian expressed the profound impact of losing not only his financial stability but also the companionship of friends who had distanced themselves during his downfall. Despite the gravity of his struggles, Njoro acknowledged the miraculous intervention that prevented him from succeeding in his suicide attempts, attributing it to a higher power.

Njoro traced the intensification of his challenges to his father’s diagnosis with stomach cancer. The ensuing months of October, November, and December in 2019 marked a particularly dark period for him, culminating in a harrowing incident where he contemplated driving his car off a cliff at the Rift Valley viewpoint. Fortunately, a vigilant truck driver intervened, attaching a towing chain to Njoro’s vehicle and thwarting the potentially tragic outcome.

Recounting two other suicide attempts involving rat poison and wrist-slitting, Njoro issued a plea for professional help, urging access to a therapist. Additionally, he sought employment opportunities, expressing his readiness to accept any job that came his way.

In a positive turn of events, Njoro found a glimmer of hope in 2021 when he secured a position with Flamingo Radio, shortly after completing rehabilitation. This job opportunity marked a significant milestone for the beleaguered comedian, offering a fresh start and a chance to rebuild his life after a tumultuous period of turmoil and depression.
