Breaking: Kenyas Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi Arrested taken To DCI Headquarters for questioning

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mithika Linturi found himself in the custody of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters, following his impeachment by Members of Parliament. The move was prompted by a recommendation from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) for the arrest and prosecution of CS Linturi and his Principal Secretary Paul Ronoh in connection with the counterfeit fertilizer scandal.

In addition to Linturi and Ronoh, five other high-ranking officials from the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) were also summoned but reportedly failed to appear as required on Friday.

This development unfolded amidst national anticipation for President William Ruto’s scheduled address to the nation at 1 pm. Although the topic of the address had not been disclosed by Statehouse when it was announced on May 2nd, speculation was rife. Some speculated that the flood situation in the country would be addressed, while others predicted an imminent cabinet reshuffle.

With his impeachment by 149 MPs the day before, Mithika Linturi’s fate now lies in the hands of the committee tasked with investigating him regarding the scandal.
