Nigerian prophet Primate Elijah Ayodele has issued a warning to President William Ruto regarding his chances of securing a second term, citing potential political hurdles ahead.
Having accurately predicted Ruto’s 2022 victory, Ayodele now advises him to reconsider his approach to bolster his re-election prospects. His counsel coincides with widespread protests against the Finance Bill 2024.
On Saturday, the prophet urged President Ruto to swiftly address the ongoing protests, cautioning that failure to do so could lead to a dire situation where even divine intervention might not suffice.
Ayodele claimed to have received a divine message prompting him to advise Ruto accordingly, emphasizing that there is still time for the president to rectify the situation by heeding this warning.
Furthermore, Ayodele forecasted that Ruto’s leadership would face heightened public demonstrations driven by dissatisfaction with his policies and governance. He stressed that these protests were spontaneous and rooted in Kenyans’ frustration with current economic challenges.
The prophet warned that such unrest could tarnish President Ruto’s legacy and undermine his achievements in office. He also cautioned that ignoring public concerns could pave the way for an easy victory for the opposition in future elections.
Ayodele, along with other religious leaders, urged President Ruto to amend the Finance Bill to alleviate economic hardships facing Kenyans. They specifically called for the removal of proposed tax increases and new levies set for the upcoming fiscal year.
Meanwhile, Kenyans are planning to sustain their protests in the coming week to exert pressure on MPs to reject the bill.
