Bungoma Governor Moses Wetang’ula, popularly known as Natembeya, fired a pointed response after President William Ruto’s Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, allegedly made disparaging remarks about women. Speaking passionately, Natembeya asked, “Leo Ruto amekua Bungoma anatusi Gachagua ati kazi yake ni kupeana mimba. Kwani kazi ya mwanaume ni nini? Kwani wewe umezalisha wangapi?”
The governor’s comments highlight the growing tension between leaders in the political arena, especially around issues of respect and responsibility. By questioning Gachagua’s remarks, Natembeya not only defended women but also challenged male leaders to reflect on their roles and contributions.
This exchange underscores how political discourse in Kenya often moves beyond policies to personal accountability, with public figures being held responsible for both their words and actions. Natembeya’s remarks have already stirred reactions among residents of Bungoma and across social media, emphasizing the need for careful rhetoric in leadership.
