Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has launched a sharp attack against Oburu Odinga, dismissing his faction of ODM and accusing it of aligning with President William Ruto’s administration. In his remarks, Babu claimed that the ODM associated with Oburu is unfamiliar to him and alleged that it is being used for personal and political dealings with State House.
The outspoken legislator further criticized President Ruto’s government, describing it as illegitimate and ineffective. He declared that there would be continued demonstrations against the administration and suggested that the 2027 general election would usher in sweeping political change.
Babu’s comments highlight growing tensions within opposition politics, particularly around the direction and unity of the Orange Democratic Movement. ODM has long been a key political force, and public disagreements among its leaders signal possible divisions as the country moves closer to the next election cycle.
The remarks also reflect the increasingly charged political climate, with leaders on both sides of the divide intensifying their rhetoric. While some supporters view Babu’s stance as a firm defense of opposition principles, critics argue that such language risks escalating political tensions.
As preparations for the 2027 elections gradually take shape, statements like these underscore the deepening debates over leadership, party loyalty, and the future political landscape in Kenya.
